Describes effects of conflict in the region; recounts the historical division of the Bakwain [baKwena] into two portions under Bube [Bubi] and Sechele, the recent death of Bube [in August 1845], and the subsequent return of many of the people to Sechele and his return to Chonuane [Chonwane], the response of Khake [successor of Bube] and his visit to Mabotsa with his remaining people [Sechele subsequently became paramount chief of the united baKwena people]; return of Edwards to Mabotsa after a twelve month absence.
