Admin history: Air Chief Marshal Arjan Singh was born in Lyallpur, Punjab on the 15th April 1919 into an Aulakh family. He was trained at RAF College Cranwell in 1938 and was commissioned as an officer in 1939. He served with the Indian Air Force in the Arakan Campaign (1944) during the Second World War. In 1947, Singh was a Wing Commander, Royal Indian Air Force in Ambala.
