Summary: |
These two men are sitting on a ritual platform in an Apatani village : Both wear the traditional hair knot and have a tattoo mark on the chin, but their outer clothing is more modern : the man on the left is wearing a jacket that resembles those given by the colonial and later Indian government to 'village headmen.' The man on the right is using a blanket, bought in a store, as a shawl : this ritual platform has been repaired recently, and newly cut wooden planks put in place, probably because the village is celebrating the Myoko festival. |
