description Has reached Paarl; resolve not to give any further public speeches [Livingstone's uvula had been cut off at Cape Town, but he still found it difficult to deliver long addresses]; refers to George [George Fleming, a West Indian living in Cape Town who had been one of William Oswell's servants on the journeys to Lake Ngami (1849) and Sebetwane's country (1851).
