Correspondence includes that with Macleod Wylie (1865-1868, 1879-1881), a long-term friend and private consultant to Mackinnon in the City of Glasgow Bank legal case. Papers include miscellaneous company reports, including companies involved with mass communications, insurance, mining, railroads and finance; papers and letters relating to the Eucla Sheep Station in Australia, American railroads, the Scottish Carolina Timber Company and the Florida Land & Colonization Company amongst others.
