scb_admin_history Pran Nath Jalali was born into a Kashmiri speaking Pandit family in Kashmir. He was a freedom fighter and an activist with the Communist Party of India from 1941-1949. He was a political officer in the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference-aligned militia. Following Partition, Jalali lived in Czechoslovakia, returning to India in the mid-1950s. He worked as a journalist, most notably for the Press Trust of India in Srinagar. Jalali left Srinagar following attempt on his life in 1983.
