Pran Chopra, was an Indian journalist and editor. He was born in Lahore in 1921. In Lahore he mixed in left-wing intellectual circles. He worked as a journalist for the 'Civil and Military Gazette' in 1941 and later as a war correspondent for All India Radio. He returned to Lahore in August 1947 to help his parents leave for India. Later worked as journalist for the 'The Hindu' and 'The Tribune' and became the first Indian Chief Editor of the 'The Statesman'. Chopra died on 22 December 2013. |
