scb_admin_history Kewal R. Malkani was born in Hyderabad, Sindh in 1921. He joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1941. In January 1948 he crossed over to Delhi. He was editor of the RSS newspaper the 'Organiser' and later 'Panchjanya'. He wrote Muhammad Ali Jinnah's obituary in the 'Hindustan Times'. He was a newspaper editor and author of historical works, including 'The Sindh Story' in 1984. Malkani was associated with the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and was a founder of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was Vice-President of the BJP, 1991-1994 and member of the Indian Upper House of Parliament between 1994-2000. Before his death he served Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from 2002. He died on 27 October 2003.
