scb_admin_history Danial Latifi was born in 1917. He was the son of Sir Alma Latifi of the I.C.S. Latifi was educated at the University of Oxford and trained as a Barrister-at-Law at Gray's Inn, London. Latifi joined the Communist Party of India in around 1940, and the Punjab Muslim League in circa 1944. He drafted the 'Punjab Muslim League Manifesto' in 1944. He married Sarah Itiyarah, a Syrian Christian teacher and a fellow Communist. Latifi was in Bombay during 1947, and he moved to Delhi following Partition. Latifi was a lawyer for the defence of those accused following the communist-led Telangana Rebellion in Hyderabad (1946-1951). Latifi dropped his links to the Communist Party in the early 1960s. Danial Latifi died in 2000.
