Summary: This man is a Nyishi shaman conducting a mithun sacrifice in front of a Nyishi house in Talo village : Gesturing toward the mithun not visible here, with the a stick decorated with bamboo shavings, he is chanting to the spirits : He wears the typical hair knot with metal skewer, cane hat with hornbill or eagle feather, string of metal beads on the hair line, wooden disc in the ear lobe from which hang small rings, cane belt, wrist guard, cotton tunic and cotton shawl : Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf saw this event when he came to Talo to negotiate a settlement to a long-standing conflict between a clan of Nyishis not in Talo, and Apatanis.
