Summary: |
This portrait of Kago Bida, an influential man and priest of Hija village, was taken near Christoph von Fürer-Haimendorf's camp site in the Apatani valley : He described him as 'one of the richest and most influential of the younger men who : old me laughingly that he hoped to build up a polygamous household in the fashion of rich Daflas Nyishis : : I did not doubt his ability to content several women : Rosy-cheeked, powerfully built and always well and rather expensively dressed, he was the picture of a man fond of good living...' Certainly, he wears the traditional hair knot in a striking fashion, as well as the traditional metal string of beads on the hair line and small brass earrings through a cane ring. |
