Summary: Photograph album of John Sparks Ltd, dealer in Chinese art (London) - containing 118 black and white studio photographic prints of Chinese and East Asian ceramics, including vases, bowls, cups, dishes, plates, human and animal figurines, ewers and incense burners. Styles featured include ceramics in celadon Longquan or Lung-ch'uan greenware, Jian ware or Chien ware, Cizhou ware or Tz'u-chou ware, Guan ware or Kuan ware, unglazed pottery, as well as a smaller number of images of Japanese pottery, including Tenmoku ware and Korean porcelain, including Korai ware or Korean Mortuary Pottery. Periods of origin featured include ceramics from the Qing (including Qianlong, Yongzheng), Sung, Tang, Ming, Sui and Wei dynasties. Prints include typescript annotations, some have handwritten annotations indicating that the artwork was exhibited at the Oriental Ceramic Society or Centennial Marco Polo exhibition, 7th, 1954 Venice, Italy. 8 pages contain caption but no print.. 1 volume. 124 pp. (loose).
