description Photograph album of John Sparks Ltd, dealer in Chinese art (London), containing black and white reference photographic prints of Chinese artworks and antiques, including porcelain and other ceramics, bronzes, carved hardstones, carved lacquer work, stone sculpture, paintings and furniture; along with a small number of Southeast Asian objects. The prints include art and antiques sold by the company. Prints on pp. 2-179 include typescript captions, providing descriptions of artwork, colouration, periods of origin, dimensions and photographic studio negative numbers. Some photographs include with details of periodicals in which the image was published (1920s). Prints on pp. 1, 180-302 include negative number only. Some prints missing from page. Prints broadly arranged by negative number. Blank A-Z index at front of volume. 302 pp. + a-z. 1 volume [split into two parts during conservation]. Bound. Cardboard endpapers. No cover. No spine [removed during conservation, spine previously contained label 'Reference Vol. 1]'.
