Bitton was accompanied by Arthur Burns and Stanley Toms in his visit to the congregational churches of South Africa and the General Assembly of the Congregational Union at Uitenhage, Cape Province [South Africa]. The snapshots were taken by Toms and Bitton. It has been difficult to ascertain the original order of the photographs in the album and some shots are missing.
