Green, the British Resident, giving an account of the attack of the Boers on Kolobeng; has little hope of the present Governor, Sir George Cathcart, showing any favour towards "either missionary or Hottentots"; loss of property by Mr Codrington at Kolobeng - has Parliamentary influence and is likely to "make some noise about the affair"; rains have fallen and he has nearly succeeded in getting a full complement of men; intends to start on 14th [December 1852]; has given Mebaloe 10 pounds in consideration of his losses at Kolobeng and because he "kept the school and other services and remained at his work up to the commencement of the firing" - he is now at Kuruman; has written an Analysis of the Sechuana [seTswana] Language whilst in Kuruman, which may be accepted by the Asiatic Journal [Livingstone sent the manuscript to his friend Watt for submission to the Journal, but it was not published there]. |
