Henry Drummond, described as a lace manufacturer, was based at different addresses in Hamilton and Glasgow during the period of their correspondence and sent out supplies of clothing and drapery to Livingstone.

Request to replenish his wardrobe with detailed descriptions re the types of practical clothing that he will require. Includes comments on weather and seasonal variations in temperature and a note on how the environmental conditions appear to be changing. He also describes the vegetation in the region and the physical landscape. Discusses the "Boors [Boers] of Port Natal", their religious observances, attitudes towards the Colonial Government and reistance to the abolition of slavery.
