Writing from the residence of Bubi, one of the Bakwain [baKwena] chiefs; visiting for the purpose of assisting a "native teacher" [Tomore] to commence operations and to perfect his own language skills; describes irrigation work undertaken; describes the character of the people in these regions compared to farther south and offers advice from his personal experience of working with them, including the issue of whether payment should be made for work undertaken; describes "native" dwellings; describes his experience with the language; discusses the issue of ordination for missionaries; refers to Thomas [Prentice] to say that he hasn't heard from him.
