description Journal of Archibald Murray and James Sunderland, June 1853 - January 1854, describing their voyage to the New Hebrides [Vanuatu] and Loyalty Islands [New Caledonia] to visit the native teachers, and observe the progress of the missions there. The ship travelled first to Sydney to collect Archibald Murray, then to Aneiteum [Anatom] to take on board Mr and Mrs Geddie, from there it went to Fotuna, Erromanga [Erromango] and Fate [Efate where there had been a recent outbreak of small pox. Next they called at Toka, Mare, Suaekos and Lifu before returning to Aneiteum. Finally they called at Niue (or Savage Island) then returned to Samoa. Journal has been heavily edited in pencil.
