Summary: Journal of Archibald Murray and James Sunderland, April - July 1852, recording their voyage to the New Hebrides [Vanuatu] and Loyalty Islands to visit the native teachers, and observe the progress of the missions there. Islands visited included Tanna, Aneiteum [Anatom] where Mr Geddie and his wife were stationed, Rotumah, Erromanga [Erromango], Fate (Sandwich Island) [Efate], Lifu, Toka, Mare and Niue (Savage Island). Page 41 and 42 of the journal are missing - it appears to have been cut out. The journal also records correspondence with the George Selwyn, Bishop of New Zealand regarding the occupation of New Caledonia by the Australasian Episcopal Board of Missions.
