The books are on the Islamic sciences of hadith, tafsir, fiqh, qira'ah and nahw. The scripts are Maghribi in two hands with features pointing to West Africa west of Nigeria or even to Morocco, but may also have originated from east of Lake Chad. A few are dated to the late 18th century. The format of the folder is unusual and the folios are gathered in quires which have not been sewn.(Dmitry Bondarev and Ahmad al-Achtar) |
