Muhammad abu Zahra was born on March 29, 1898, in the Nile Delta of Egypt. Following a traditional kuttāb education,² ‘he completed his secondary education at al-Ahmadi mosque in Tanta. In 1916, he entered the School of Shari’ah at al-Azhar in Cairo where he graduated in 1925.
