Admin history: SOAS's Governing Body (renamed the Board of Trustees in September 2015) has absolute authority within the School, with overall responsibility for the general supervision, direction and control of all aspects of the School, in accordance with the School's Charter and Standing Orders. The Governing Body was constituted in the initial Charter of Incorporation of the School of Oriental Studies and held its first meeting on 22 June 1916.
