description B&W photographic print. 'The Lhotas, Semas and Sangtams build thatched roofs over their graves, suggesting that they may once have practised platform exposure of their deceased, as do the Konyaks. In this picture the thatched shelter is surrounded by a fence, on which are impaled numerous gourds. Nearby is a framework on which are displayed the skulls of mithun and buffaloes and the man's shield. The mithun is also a symbol of fertility. Hanging from two long bamboo poles are representations of the many heads he has taken, symbolic of the increase in fertility his exploits have brought to his community.'
