Personal papers are arranged in date order but do not form a single series because of their wide-ranging subject matter and in some cases rather slight nature.They consist of items from most aspects of Addis's life ranging from his appointment to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) to papers relating to his marriage and including items concerning his awards for public service, children, holidays, entertaining and studying. The earliest papers, a bundle of playbills and programmes, show his keen interest in the theatre while there are here also notebooks written partly in Chinese and compiled by Addis when he was studying the language. A number of items belonged to Lady Addis, of particular interest being the visitor and invitation books dating from her years overseas.The condition of all these items varies but is usually good.
