G.S. Mackenzie to Col. Euan Smith Details of Rev. Price's confirmation of arrangements regarding runaway slaves. Later Rev. Price informed G.S. Mackenzie of mistakes in no. of such slaves at mission. The slaves intended to resist being returned to masters. To avoid trouble G.S. Mackenzie suggested to Hamid-bin-Suliman that the slaves be freed by purchase & money given to owners. Suggests Col. E. Smith issues permits for settlement at mission by freed slaves which would provide evidence in any later dispute. Still wants elected representative from IBEA Co. at mission.
