G.S. Mackenzie to Buchanan p.180Stokes requires $3000 monthly to take goods beyond Msalala. Warning Buchanan not to exceed his authority & contract with Stokes must be kept. Relays rumour that Stanley had reached Emin & asks for confirmation. Tippoo Tib has not kept his promise. With return of steamer at end of January we may expect further news.
