Summary: The material relates to the PCE mission in the Rajshahi district of East Bengal, in India, later East Pakistan, later still Bangladesh. The other main town in the district was Naogoan. The class includes photographs previously found in PCE boxes 59, 93, 109, 111, and 113 (Series I and Series I additional). Sorting has been kept to a minimum, though sets of missionary portraits and a miscellaneous file have been compiled. The files have been arranged chronologically as far as is possible, although individual files can cover large date ranges. The photographs show people, buildings, and local scenes. Where possible, each place name is identified by a contemporary standard form (taken from Edward Band's Working His Purpose Out) and a current modern standard (from the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names) if different. Rajshahi has been used as the name of the main town in the district. Until 1920 it was known as Rumpur Boalia (alternative spelling Rampore Boalia). Godagari has been used instead of Godagaree.
Extent: 2 boxes containing approximately 415 images (black and white or sepia prints, negatives, cuttings, postcards, and a drawing) in 3 files and 1 album.
