Summary: This class contains photographic items which either cover more than one of the PCE Chinese mission fields (South Fujian / Amoy, Lingdong / Swatow, Hakka, Taiwan / Formosa) or cannot be assigned to a particular field but still relate to China. For more information on conventions concerning spellings of particular place names please see the class descriptions for the mission field in which the place is found. The class includes photographs previously found in PCE boxes 22, 93, 109-114, and 121 (Series I and Series I additional). The material has largely been kept in its constituent groups though some of these are missing slides, pages, etc. 1 miscellaneous file has also been created to accommodate loose unidentified items and photographs where the level of information has been insufficient to assign it to a particular field. The files have been arranged chronologically as far as is possible, although individual files can cover large date ranges. The items feature landscapes, buildings, individuals, groups (missionaries, Chinese Christians, hospitals, schools, etc), and local scenes.
Extent: 4 boxes (2 of which are wooden slide boxes) and 1 out-size item containing approximately 230 images (black and white, sepia, or colour-tinted lantern slides, prints, drawings, and a glass negative) and other associated material in 10 files.
Note: Lantern slides need particular care when handling.
