Betty Keyes was born in 1930 in Tarkisha into an Anglo-Indian family. Her father was born in England and worked for the railway in West Bengal. Her mother was born in India of Portuguese heritage. Keyes was educated at Calcutta Girls High School worked in the telephone exchange, first as an operator and later as a supervisor. She retired in 1985. |
