Dr Farooq Abdullah was born on the 21 October 1937 in Soura. He is the son of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference leader and Cheif Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state, Sheikh Abdullah. He trained as a doctor of medicine. Farooq Abdullah was appointed as President of the National Conference in August 1981. He has served as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir state on a number of occasions since 1982 and and as a member Rajya Sabha since 2002. |
