Anima Dasgupta was a born in circa 1922. She joined the Communist Party of India in 1946 and was a party activist in Bihar and Calcutta [Kolkata] during the militant 'Ranadive' period of the 1940s. Following the split in the CPI in 1964, Dasgupta joined the Community Party of India (Marxist). She worked at the Telephone Bhavan in Calcutta and was active in the trade union movement. Her brother was Promode Dasgupta (1910-1993), Politbureau member and Secretary of the West Bengal State Committee of CPI (M). |
