scb_admin_history Jugal Chandra Ghosh worked for the Congress party linked Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and ran an akhara or wrestling school. In 1946 riots he organised self-defence groups among Hindus in Calcutta. He met Mahatma Gandhi in August 1947. In 1992 he organised relief for Calcutta muslims following the Ayodha riots. In later life he looked after the house in Baliaghata at which Gandhi stayed in August 1947.
