Lyla Murshed was born 7 November 1925 in Calcutta [Kolkata], from a nationalist Muslim family. Her father, Zakaria, was a mayor of Calcutta [Kolkata] and a friend of Subhas Chandra Bose. Murshed's uncle was Abul Kasem Fazlul Huq. Following Partition, she left Calcutta to move to Dhaka. |
