Admin history: Sahabzada Yaqub Ali Khan was born in 1920. He studied at Col. Brown Cambridge School in Dehradun and Prince of Wales Royal Indian Military College, Dehradun. Yaqub Ali Khan served in the British Indian Army in the Second World War, becoming a prisoner of war in Germany. Following Partition he opted to join the Pakistan Army. He commanded the 1st Armoured Division during the Indo-Pakistani war of 1965. He later served as Pakistan Ambassador to the United States (1973-1979) and Minister of Foreign Affairs for Pakistan (1982-1991; and 1996-1997).
Custodial history: Interview by Andrew Whitehead at United Service Institution, Delhi, India; while Yaqub Ali Khan was visiting India to attend 75th anniversary celebrations of Indian Military Academy at Dehra Dun.
