Admin history: Ajit Bhattacharjea was an Indian journalist and newspaper editor. He was born in 1924 in Shimla and educated at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. In 1947, he was in Srinagar to cover the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947-1948 as a journalist with 'The Hindustan Times'. He later became editor of 'The Hindustan Times', 'The Times of India' and 'The Indian Express'. Following his retirement as an editor, Bhattacharjea served as Director of Press Institute of India and campaigned on the issue of the right to information. He died on the 5th April 2011.
