Admin history: Edward Behr was born in Paris on 7 May 1926 to a family of Russian-Jewish descent. His family fled to England from France following the German occupation. He was educated at Lycée Janson de Sailly and St Paul's School, London. He was commissioned into the British Indian Army in 1944 as a Intelligence Officer.
