Admin history: Dr. Saroj Pachauri (née) was born in a Sikh family in Quetta. Her father was a lawyer in Rawalpindi and her mother was a hospital physician. She left Rawalpindi in August/September 1947. She is a physician and Population Council Regional Director for South and East Asia. She is married to Dr. Rajendra Kumar Pachauri, a Hindu academic and chairperson of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
