Admin history: Qurratulain Hyder was a leading Urdu novelist, academic and journalist. She was born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh in 1927 and educated at Indraprastha College, Delhi and Lucknow University's Isabella Thoburn College. In 1947, Hyder left Dehradun during rioting, escaping on train. She later moved to Pakistan and in moved to the UK in 1951. Hyder published the novel 'Aag Ka Darya' [River of Fire] in 1959.
