description Detailing life at Kawimbe from 1900. First chapter missing. The story seems to be told initially by an African child called Polly who has been liberated (she refers to her 'old masters' including Bwana Ali by whom they have been enslaved) along with others, amongst whom are a number of other small children who are now unable to find their way back home. The narrative suggests that the captors are Arab slave traders. The story tells about her experience with missionaries from Scottish missionary societies (Glasgow), with whom she is sent to live after her liberation from enslavement. The narrator goes on to tell her life story as she becomes an adult.
