Summary: Recordings made by Rev A. R. Downs, who dictated his reminiscences. Recordings span Rev Down's life from his school days in Exeter, his approach to the London Missionary Society and training at theological college in Bristol, his arrival in Madagascar and life at the mission station (Anzozorobe), travels in Marofotsy, 1937-1940 rule of Vichy France in Madagascar, his work as an army chaplain and move to East Africa and later Burma where he was involved in the final stages of the Burma campaign, travels in India and return home to the UK in 1947, until his retirement. Includes digital copy of the recordings.
