Martha Saul, née Medhurst, was known affectionately as Toddles. She was married to Robert Powell Saul, a merchant. W. H. Mitchell served as Assistant Magistrate and Sheriff of Hong Kong in 1850. He served as Hong Kong's Acting Chief Magistrate in 1852, in the absence of Charles Batten Hillier. Mitchell retired on a pension from the Colonial Office in 1862.
