Subjects: 1) Constance warns that reports of the war are often inaccurate, but as the Japanese are much better prepared they are likely to win. 2) The death of a British businessman at Chefoo leads to an account of the disastrous behaviour of his children. 3) Constance is now alone in the house when Arthur is out. 4) Constance denies that she is jealous etc. in respect of her children.
