Subjects: 1) Constance and the Judds travel to Ninghai in sedan chairs and on a mule, 2) Detailed description of the house at Ninghai in which they are to live, 3) The daily routine from dawn to dusk is full of good work, 4) A simple diet, rice, Chinese bread, fish and fowl, 5) Constance, oppressed by a monotonous life behind the mission house walls, declares that her faith in God’s presence sustains her, 6) First report of homesickness on Constance’s part.
