Photographs taken in 1927 follwing the arrival of Alexander and Doris Sandilands at their mission station in Maun, Bechuanaland [Botswana]. Dates and numbers written on the reverse of the photographs by Ian Sandilands relate them to incidents in Alexander Sandilands' 1927 correspondence (see MS380813/2/1): "Women's Working Party" [group seated outside hut, some apparently thatching]; "My work bench; a corner of the bucksail over the stores etc" [exterior, Maun mission compound]; "Brick yard" [Maun mission compound]; "The post runners - this is how all the post comes to Maun from Livingstone" [native letter carriers]; "Looking East over the river.
