Letters from Alexander Sandilands in Maun, Kasane, Kachikau and Nkugin Pan, Bechuanaland [Botswana], Livingstone, Northern Rhodesia [Zambia], Victoria Falls and Bulawayo, Southern Rhodesia [Zimbabwe], and Johannesburg, South Africa, to his mother, Annie Jane Sandilands, in Scotland. Also: one letter of 7 Oct 1928 from Alexander Sandilands to Doris Sandilands, and a letter of 23 November from Alexander Sandilands to his brother James in Scotland. The letters include descriptions of the Sandilands' journey to Tiger Kloof by way of Livingstone and back in Jan-May 1928, and a journey by Alexander Sandilands in Aug-Oct 1928 from Maun to Bulawayo and Johnnesburg to purchase a car, which broke down in the desert between Kachikau and Maun on the return journey. |
