Admin history: The Boxer Rebellion, Boxer Uprising or Yihetuan Movement (1898-1900) (also known as the Righteous Harmony Society Movement) was a movement against Western influence in China. A secret anti-foreign society, the Boxers (Ch'uan), undertook attacks on foreigners from 1899. In 1900 the Boxers occupied Peking (Beijing). The siege was lifted later that year by an international force which ended the Uprising. [Source: Wikipedia]
