Admin history: J Percy Shrimpton was born in Cardiff in October 1879, the son of the Rev and Mrs Joseph Shrimpton, and was educated at Victoria College, Congleton, Cheshire, and King's Grammar School, Birmingham. He worked in a Sunday school and was a local preacher in Lincolnshire where he married a Miss Hipkin of Skegness. He was accepted for the ministry in 1899 and trained at Handsworth College.
