Correspondence relating to the Ceylon [i.e., Sri Lanka] district and missions of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society and Methodist Missionary Society, 1814-1950. Correspondence primarily consists of letters from missionaries to the secretaries of the Society regarding their work and from the district chairman on issues concerning missionary work within their district. Some later files also include copies of outgoing letters sent to missionaries and district chairman by the secretaries. General correspondence exists from 1814 to 1867 and from 1935. Correspondence is also available for Colombo (1885-1906), Galle & Kandy (1885-1905), North Ceylon (1867-1935) and South Ceylon (1868-1935). |
