Summary: Records relating to preliminary applications for missionary work sent by applicants from the various circuits to the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society headquarters, 1833-1869. No candidates' papers are extant for the following years: 1834, 1851, 1858-66, 1868. 1. Letters of introduction written by the applicant. 2. The amount of information on the candidate given in the various records varies considerably.
