scb_admin_history At a meeting of the General Committee on 25 June 1953 it was agreed that its recently formed Overseas Literature Sub-committee should be merged with the Western Literature Committee to form the Overseas Literature Committee. Its constitution stating that it was 'to be responsible for encouraging the production and distribution of Christian Literature for the Overseas Church' and 'in particular, to advise the Officers on the Literature Allocation in the Budget and to authorise grants from the Literature Funds.' The work of the committee was reviewed by the Rev T A Beetham in March 1961 when he categorised the committee's literature output as either by 'Methodist for Methodists' or inconjunction with other agencies and he made a series of recommendations relating to these.
